Super Bowl LVII Recap!

The Kansas City Chiefs are your Super Bowl LVII champions. The Chiefs defeated the Philadelphia Eagles 38-35 in the third highest score in Super Bowl history. Much was made on social media leading up to the game that the “script” had been leaked and that the Eagles were going to win with a final score of 37-34. The outcome and score were wrong, but it was right about the prediction that it would be a high-scoring affair. As for my prediction for the game, I also came up short on the final combined score and winner. The reason both predictions fell short was simply because of the brilliance of Patrick Mahomes. In last week’s issue I stated that “the Chiefs still have the best quarterback in the game in Patrick Mahomes. That alone gives them a shot in every ball game, every one of this magnitude.” That statement was right because having Mahomes on their sideline propelled the Chiefs to victory. Mahomes finished his third Super Bowl in five years, 27-44 for yards and three passing touchdowns. His magic in the second half propelled the Chiefs to victory and further cemented him as one of the best in the league and quickly one of the best of all time. To further display how incredible his career has been so far, consider this: In five seasons as starter for Kansas City, Mahomes has two Super Bowl rings, two Super Bowl MVPs, two NFL MVPs, five AFC Championship games, five division titles and five straight 12+ win seasons. Remarkable. For the Eagles, their quarterback ain’t no slouch, either. Jalen Hurts finished the game with 308 yards on 27-38 passing and touchdown to go along with 70 yards on 15 rushed and three rushing touchdowns. Any game against any other team/QB and it would be Hurts we would be lauding as the superior passer in the contest, and yet, here we are. What the Eagles were able to accomplish this season shouldn’t be forgotten. They ran through the NFC and finished the year 16-4. Kudos to the Eagles for their accomplishments this year; the future is bright in Philly. Look for these two teams to be back next year in the Super Bowl hunt, along with the Buffalo Bills, San Francisco 49ers and Cincinnati Bengals. Congrats to the Kansas City Chiefs.
