Shreve Memorial Library is working with the Louisiana Office of Student Financial Assistance (LOSFA) to host a series of financial aid information sessions at library branches throughout Caddo Parish. From July 15 to August 21, high school students will be able to learn more about the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), Taylor Opportunity Program for Students (TOPS) scholarships, and additional federal and state financial aid programs. Sessions will take place at several Shreve Memorial Library branches, and each session is free and open to the public.

We now know what the 2024 “I Voted” sticker looks like after Louisiana Secretary of State Nancy Landry and Academy Award winner William Joyce unveiled it on Monday, July 8. They unveiled it at a ceremony at Louisiana’s Old Governor’s Mansion. Joyce, an artist from Shreveport, designed the new “I Voted” sticker. “I am honored to be asked to do the art for this year’s ‘I Voted’ Election Day badge,” Joyce said. “While making it, I thought about how it feels to vote. For me it feels fantastic. Like I matter. Like I make a difference. Regardless of political party, democracy is a song everyone loves, so let’s vote and go to the freedom dance!”

Community members are invited to participate in a series of meetings designed to gather input on the selection of the next superintendent of Caddo Parish Public Schools. These meetings will provide a platform for parents, students, and other stakeholders to share their thoughts and priorities for the district’s leadership.
