Lamps do not talk, but they do shine. A lighthouse emits no noise, yet far across the waters its friendly light is seen by sailors at night. Whether we are aware of it or not, we have the opportunity today to be the light of Christ for someone else. Let your light shine brightly into the lives of others, that you may be a blessing and and an ambassador to others.

With only one week left in Library Card Sign-Up Month, now is the time to sign up for a Shreve Memorial Library card. Library Card Sign-Up Month is recognized each September by the American Library Association to remind parents, caregivers and students that signing up for a library card is the first step on the path to academic achievement and lifelong learning. More than that, library cards unlock a world of endless possibilities providing access to thousands of research materials, hours of entertainment and a plethora of new ideas. Why should you sign up for a library card? Here are a few good reasons. First, Shreve Memorial Library cards are free and are available to all who live, work, go to school in or own property in Caddo Parish. It costs you nothing to sign up for a library card, and if you lose your card for any reason, it only costs $1 to replace the lost card. Better yet, during the month of September, you can have your lost or misplaced library card replaced free of charge. And did you know that all Caddo Parish Public School students can use their student ID numbers as a virtual library card as well? Second, a Shreve Memorial Library card gives you access to your library 24/7. Through the Shreve Memorial Library e- branch, you can use your library card to access online homework help, stream and download e-books, audiobooks, movies, television shows, music and more, perform research for school projects, family history or business ventures, read the latest e-editions of your favorite magazines, and learn new skills and hobbies with convenient video tutorials. The library’s e-branch is available anytime, anywhere and can be accessed at www.shreve-lib.org.
Caddo Parish Public Schools continues to set the standard in the region for academic opportunities for students to excel.
