Important Facts to Know about Power of Attorney
Power of Attorney may designate more than one Attorney-in-fact. When someone must assume duties under a Power of Attorney, it can be an overwhelming responsibility; as such, it makes sense in some situations to name co-attorneys-in-fact. For example, in my experience, it is common for parents to name two of their adult children to act as their attorneys-in-fact.

A lumber mill in Plain Dealing has been acquired by a Tokyobased company. Sumitomo Forestry Co. said it became the majority owner of Teal Jones Louisiana Holdings, enabling it to launch its first timber industrial complex in the U.S. In addition to providing lumber and other materials for residential house construction, the mill will consider mass manufacturing of timber to maximize the use of logs to nothing goes to waste. The lumber mill is spread over 240 acres and receives enough logs and materials equivalent to building about 14,000 homes a year. Sumitomo plans to use about 100 acres of unused land on site to sell mass timber and wood products in preparation for future increased demand.

From the Desk of the DA: June 2025
I want to take the time to remark on this recently completed legislative session. State representatives Steven Jackson and Tammy Phelps are to each be applauded for their dogged determination to pass into criminal law issues that have deeply affected many Shreveport communities, specifically to criminalize the theft of utilities by landlords, which was signed into law, and to criminalize the inaction of landlords of blighted property. I also thank State Senator Thomas Pressly for his successful effort to stop a bill from fellow Senator Alan Seabaugh to inexplicably end our state’s juvenile courts, including Caddo Parish’s own exemplary juvenile court.
