Bossier Parish Fire District #1 congratulated the following personnel and their agencies for a monumental accomplishment within the State of Louisiana: - Training Officer Jacob Maddox-Benton Fire District 4 - Assistant Chief Reggie Oswalt-Bossier Parish Fire District 1 - Deputy Chief Nick Palmer-Haughton Fire - Assistant Chief Fred McCann-Haughton Fire - Mr. Beau Bevan-BPCC These individuals have over the past two years worked on attending, completing and graduating the inaugural class of the Louisiana Fire Chiefs Academy.

The Shreveport Police Department hosted firearms intelligence training alongside federal and local offices on Wednesday, June 25. The training was in collaboration with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, the United States Attorney's Office, the Caddo Parish Sheriff's Office, the Caddo Parish District Attorney's Office, the Shreveport City Marshal's Office, and the LSU Shreveport Police Department. Over 100 officers were in attendance at the LSU Shreveport University Center. The session focused on privately made firearms, machine gun conversions, homemade silencers, regional and national firearm trends, and strategies for building more prosecutable cases.

1. Tell us about your family when growing up and where you lived: I was born and raised in Shreveport, Louisiana, and am the oldest of four children. I was born to a young mother and wife – just 16 years old at the time – who had to step into adulthood earlier than expected. She was also the eldest child of eight, so I spent much of my childhood surrounded by my aunts and uncles, many of whom felt more like siblings to me. My grandmother played a central role in raising us – not only her own children, but also my siblings and several other children in the community.

Shreveport-made Horror Film “The Twin” to Receive Red Carpet Premiere July 10 at the Strand Theatre!

Local filmmakers will host a screening and Q&A in the city that made it possible. Writer/director J.C. Doler’s haunting Irish-folklore–inspired horror film The Twin will celebrate its red carpet hometown premiere on Thursday, July 10 at the historic Strand Theatre in Shreveport.

Shreveport Little Theatre Announces Auditions for the face-paced comedy 'The 39 Steps'!

Auditions for the upcoming production of The 39 Steps will be held on Saturday, July 5. The production will be directed by Dr. Ray Scott Crawford. Actors interested in auditioning should prepare a comic monologue and be ready to read from the script. This is an open audition setting, and audition appointments can be booked through TheaterForms.

Revenue report: Casinos bounce back in Shreveport-Bossier during May!

Casinos in Shreveport-Bossier had a bounce-back month according to the Louisiana Gaming Control Board’s May revenue report. Data provided by Louisiana State Police shows that Shreveport-Bossier’s six casinos earned $52.12 million in revenue for the month. That’s up 22.5% from the $42.56 million the market earned in April. Margaritaville Resort and Casino continues to be Shreveport-Bossier’s revenue leader, reporting a profit of $13.72 million for the month.
