On May 20, the Caddo Parish Sheriff's Office held graduation ceremonies for Class 58 of the Caddo Sheriff's Regional Training Academy, as Sheriff Henry Whitehorn, Sr announced. The ceremony occurred at Calvary Baptist Church, 9333 Linwood Avenue, Shreveport, LA.

Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson and his team are working to bring filming back to Shreveport and north Louisiana. He has big plans for this community. He recently reached a deal to lease the old Expo Hall (Stageworks) complex from the city of Shreveport for $200 dollars month.

LSUS economist Douglas White said the local economy is “muddling through,” according to first-quarter data compiled in the Northwest Louisiana Economic Dashboard report.

Six recent Bossier Parish high school graduates and a Benton Middle School teacher were awarded thousands of dollars to support their work and studies in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics), thanks to the AFCEA ArkLaTex Chapter. Each of the following students received a $2,000 scholarship from AFCEA to pursue STEM education at the collegiate level: Declan Miller and Molly Ann Milles of Benton High; Ethan Bamburg of Bossier High; Hannah Schroeter of Haughton High; and Mya Bardon and Josiah Dang of Parkway High. In addition to student scholarships, Benton Middle School STEM educator Ida Smith was selected to receive a $1,000 Lockheed Martin Silver Partner STEM Teaching Tool Grant. The grant will help Smith expand her reach and enhance STEM opportunities for middle school students.

Visit Shreveport Bossier dedicated $100,000 to fill in gaps in its Destination 318 tourism Master Plan. It will soon have six new or growing businesses to show for it.
