Shreveport’s hamburger king and one of the city’s leading philanthropists Roy Griggs has been appointed to the board of directors of the Arkansas Ronald McDonald House. Griggs has led a crusade in Shreveport for the establishment of a Ronald McDonald House for Shreveport/NW Louisiana. The Caddo Commission has dedicated funds for construction and Willis Knighton Health System has offered to have the house built on its WK South campus.

Greater Shreveport Chamber Names Greater Shreveport Leadership Program 2023 Class

For more than 45 years, the Greater Shreveport Chamber of Commerce has been identifying and preparing future community leaders through its Leadership Program. The program expands the leadership abilities of participants through educational programs, exposure to existing leadership and civic organizations, and in-depth discussions of relevant issues. It also provides a channel for participants to gain access to leadership opportunities and to become involved in the development of solutions for community challenges. Participants meet monthly from February to November and travel as a group to various locations throughout the community as well as to the Louisiana Legislature to witness the legislative process in action.

Prize Fest Starts the New Year with More Than $100,000 in Prizes for Creatives in Film, Food, Music, Fashion and Comedy!

On Wednesday, Feb. 8, in front of a standing-room-only audience of creative entrepreneurs, the Prize Foundation announced the opening of its award-winning competitions in filmmaking, music, fashion, food and comedy. Together, the competitions will award over $100,000 in cash prizes.

Atkins Recognized as Louisiana Comeback Campus School!

Atkins Elementary was named a Louisiana Comeback Campus by the Louisiana Department of Education. State Superintendent of Education Dr. Cade Brumley visited the school to present a special banner in recognition of this prestigious honor. LDOE is recognizing 41 schools throughout the state as comeback campuses. These schools are exceeding pre-pandemic levels in reading and math.
