United Way’s largest volunteer event returns April 28

United Way of Northwest Louisiana’s (UWNWLA) Day of Caring, sponsored in part by Chesapeake Energy, returns on April 28, at the Bossier City Civic Center. Approximately 600 volunteers from local businesses are expected to attend the organization’s largest, singleday volunteer event, where they will unite to work on a single impactful project for Northwest Louisiana.

Louisiana State Exhibit Museum to present 'Paintings From the Inside'

Secretary of State Kyle Ardoin and the Friends of Louisiana State Exhibit Museum invite the public to attend “Paintings From The Inside,” an exhibit by artist Bill Gingles at the Louisiana State Exhibit Museum. The exhibit will be on display April 24 to May 20 in the West Wing Gallery. Local residents and visitors are invited to meet the artist, view the exhibit and enjoy light refreshments on Sunday, April 24, from 2-4 p.m.

Steelers QB Dwayne Haskins dead at 24

Tragedy struck the NFL this past weekend as former Ohio State standout and Pittsburgh Steeler QB Dwayne Haskins died in Florida after being struck by a car. Details aren’t immense, but it appears as though Haskins was attempting to cross the highway early Saturday morning when he was struck by an oncoming dump truck. Haskins was pronounced dead at the scene.

Scottie Scheffler wins The Masters

In last week's issue, I highlighted Scheffler as one of the favorites to take home the green jacket. Heading into the tournament, he was the No. 1 golfer in the world, coming off a victory at the WGC Match Play. Scheffler went into Sunday play with a three-stroke lead over the second-place golfer and ended up wining his first major by three strokes over Rory McElroy, who finished the day seven under after shooting a masterful 64.
