CORK XVI: A Red River Revel Wine Event, presented by Buff City Soap and Sun Tan City, was the place to be and be seen on Saturday, April 2! Festival Plaza in downtown Shreveport entertained a sold out crowd where wine enthusiasts and socialites were able to sample over 90 wines, taste bite-size food portions from 9 local restaurateurs, and enjoy live music by Dead Reckoning String Band on the Progressive Bank Stage.

Judge Craig Marcotte won the election on Saturday, March 26, to fill the vacancy on the Second Circuit Court of Appeals. Earlier this year, Judge Jeanette Garrett retired, which created this vacancy.

BRF’s Center for Molecular Imaging and Therapy (CMIT) and LSU Health Shreveport have collaborated to bring a nationwide research study to the region. The New IDEAS: Imaging Dementia-Evidence for Amyloid Scanning Study is being conducted across the nation by the Alzheimer’s Association and the American College of Radiology with LSU Health Shreveport being a local site.

Former Evangel and LSU star Byron Dawson has been named head football coach at Centenary College. Dawson, a Shreveport native, was chosen following a national search and will lead the program when the Gents return to the field in the fall of 2024 after five decades without the sport on campus.

Ochsner LSU Health System of North Louisiana, a partnership formed in 2018 between Ochsner Health and LSU Health Shreveport, announced an additional $8 million gift to the Center for Medical Education on Wednesday. In 2019, Ochsner LSU Health committed an initial $2.5 million to the project making the healthcare system’s total gift for the building $10.5 million.
