Gone are the days of All-Star games being watchable. The NFL Pro Bowl is a joke and is in the scrap heap just begging for a facelift. The NBA All-Star game has become a laughable display of alley oops and half court shots, complete devoid of any semblance of defense, and, well, who watched the NHL All-Star game? The lone showcase of their sports best that has some saving grace in baseball’s All-Star game.

1229 Texas Avenue is not a building that would generally elicit any response other than "Oooh," and not in a good way. Many downtown buildings -- from the former Sears Department Store at 624 Texas Street to the Interstate Wholesale Furniture at 816 McNeil -- covered all their windows once air conditioning became available. Apparently, cooled air and natural light could not coexist at the time. At 1229 Texas Ave., that meant a metal skin on the facade and a mansard awning that are both just ... ugly.

Southern University at Shreveport and in Baton Rouge implement a 100% online RN-BSN program

On Thursday, June 23, officials from Southern University and A&M College (SUBR) and Southern University at Shreveport (SUSLA) signed an affiliation agreement between the respective nursing and allied health programs of both institutions. The partnership will allow graduates of SUSLA’s registered nurse (RN) program to continue their education online toward earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing (BSN) at SUBR. The 2+2 program is designed for RNs to continue practicing in the medical field while pursuing their BSN.
