On August 6, 2025, an incident occurred in a store in the 200 block of West 84th Street involving an alleged invasion of privacy. Following an investigation, Shreveport Police Department Sex Crimes Detectives have arrested John Swayzer (DOB: 11/21/1998).
On August 20, 2025, the Shreveport Police Department’s Crash Investigation Unit made an arrest in connection with the fatal hit-andrun crash that occurred on Saturday, August 16, 2025.
On August 19, 2025, at approximately 6:00 p.m., officers with the Shreveport Police Department were dispatched to a residence in the 1800 block of Abbie Street following a report of a juvenile in distress.
The Shreveport City Council is reviewing a proposed ordinance aimed at tightening regulations on local vape shops. The measure would establish a permitting process, set new operating hours, and impose stricter age limits on sales. A final vote is expected no earlier than September 9.
On Sunday, August 17, 2025, at approximately 4:47 p.m., officers with the Shreveport Police Department responded to a report of shots fired in the 1100 block of McKinley Avenue. Upon arrival, officers made contact with the victims, who stated that a male subject approached their location and fired one round before riding away. A vehicle parked between the victims and the suspect was struck by the bullet. The vehicle’s owner was on scene and assessed the damage. Officers collected items of evidentiary value and completed a report.
On Saturday, August 23, 2025, at 6:22 p.m., a Bossier Sheriff JCAT Deputy conducted a traffic stop in the 1900 block of Airline Drive for Improper Lane Use and an Improper Turn involving a vehicle bearing a Texas license plate.
On August 18, 2025, officers were dispatched after a white male suspect was reported leaving the store without paying for merchandise. As a responding officer arrived on scene, she immediately spotted the suspect, later identified as James Parks (DOB 7/2/1969), in the parking lot. Upon seeing the officer, Parks attempted to re-enter the store.
