A longtime brewery in Shreveport-Bossier is closing its doors after first opening in the early 2010s. Red River Brewpub first opened in 2013 after the idea was dreamed up in a garage in Bossier City in 2009. The brewery held a grand opening event at its final location in Bossier City back on Oct. 16, 2022.

Construction work to modernize the lighting system on the primary runway at Shreveport Regional Airport has begun. This project is replacing existing lighting equipment with new, modern, LED lighting. The new lighting uses less energy and will make the runway more visible at night and in adverse weather conditions. In order to perform the construction work, the primary runway will be closed for approximately 60 working days. This changes aircraft traffic flow from a north-south arrival-departure pattern to an eastwest arrival-departure pattern. The construction work is not expected to impact scheduled airline or cargo flights. This $2.7 million project is funded by the Federal Aviation Administration and the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development.

Since April, Shreveport's water system has been over the allowable limit for a contaminant created when chlorination reacts with organic material. The ongoing issue was caused by the city using more chlorine than normal to disinfect the drinking water following the breakdown in December of the water treatment plant's ozone system, which the city hasn't been able to repair while it awaits replacement parts. The several months in which the city's water system has been over the limit for trihalomethanes is not likely to cause such health effects. The city does not normally exceed the limit on trihalomethanes; the plant's new ozone disinfection system will be online in the very near future.
