The Bossier Term Limits Coalition held a press conference on Tuesday, July 25, urging the Bossier City Council to take prompt action on the term limit petition presented to Mayor Tommy Chandler on July 20. Coalition organizers Rex Moncrief and Duke Lowry were joined by representatives of the Bossier NAACP chapter, the Bossier Democratic Party Executive Committee (DPEC), the Republican Party Executive Committee (RPEC) and concerned citizens, including David Crockett.

Blanchard pulled out all the stops for its own Fourth of July festivities with its eighth annual Fourth of July festival. Galambos said the town of Blanchard estimated that more than 1,400 people showed up at the festival.

Bossier Parish Schools begin the new school year on Aug. 10. The first full day for kindergarten students is Aug. 17 and for Pre-K, Aug. 24. The private schools in the parish have different starting dates.

Shreveport Hilton has completed a recent property overhaul: a multi-million-dollar endeavor that included full exterior waterproofing and repainting, new soft goods, furnishings and overall improvements, in and out. The mural on the pool deck on the 12th floor is by local artist Ka’Davien Baylor, who also created a painting in the 12th floor event room. Local artist Ron Smith’s works are also prominently displayed throughout the hotel. This latest round of property improvements also includes lobby enhancements, updated lighting, drapery and seating in rooms, updates to the fitness center and meeting spaces as well as the exterior drive and outdoor seating/ dining area.
