The new youth baseball infield turf installation is now complete at P.B.S. Pinchback Park (7903 Jefferson Paige Rd.-Shreveport). Major League Baseball and the Major League Baseball Players Association Youth Development Foundation awarded Caddo Parish Caddo Parish has selected Blue Line Solutions to run a pilot program for traffic cameras on parish roads. Blue Line has the contract with the City of Shreveport for traffic cameras at schools in the city limits. Traffic studies will be conducted with the sheriff's office before any cameras are installed.

The finalists of a competition that rewards witty, Southern song parodies performed live in Shreveport on Feb. 4. The Southern Wit Song Parody Competition finals will take place in the Jackson Auditorium at Southern University Shreveport. The competition showcased vocalists, performers, and lyricists of all ages. Louisiana State University at Shreveport (LSUS) is on track to set a new enrollment record this spring, surpassing 11,000 students. University officials also note not only has the number of students increased, but those enrolled are taking more credit hours, further demonstrating LSUS's growth and academic momentum.

Construction at the 'SporTran City' facility at 1253 Texas Ave. will be complete with offices, an 'airport style' food court with a variety of vendors, a safety training center with driver simulator, and a new transit Operations Control Center.

The Bossier Parish Sherriff’s Office announced that Detective Ronald Glovier is the recipient of the Spirit of Jacob Bergren Award. This award is presented to a law enforcement officer who embodies the same qualities admired in Investigator Jacob Bergren of the Caddo Parish Sheriff’s Office, who passed on Jan. 28, 2020.

At the beginning of Wednesday's first agenda meeting of 2025, outgoing President Philip Rodgers exchanged seats with incoming President Glenn Benton, who has served on the police jury since 2007. Afterward, Benton presented Rodgers with a plaque and congratulated him on his work as president over the past year.

The Downtown Development Authority (DDA) offers up to $250.00 through programming mini-grants to organizations or individuals wishing to put on events that are open to the public that promote development in and are held in the Downtown Development District. The goal of the grant is to encourage events in downtown Shreveport to show off the history and culture of our urban core. It is not available to events that are fundraisers, political gatherings or events which are not open to the general public.
