In 2023, the city of Shreveport marked the 150th anniversary of the third-worst epidemic of yellow fever in United States history. The human toll was staggering: over one-quarter of the population died from the illness within a matter of weeks. The human suffering wrought in 1873 remains unparalleled to this day. Robert Goins graced American Gangster season three on BET Networks and generated the station's highest ratings ever with the 'OG' Larry Davis feature. The upcoming movie will explain in great detail Davis' case and his quest for justice as the real story is told of what happened on that chilling night in November 1986. Larry Davis did not kill any cops of the 27 officers that pursued Davis at his sister's apartment; six were shot and injured, but all survived. Historically sensational, 'The Larry Davis Story' is underway for production with great anticipation as the case has gone on to be quite controversial. Davis succumbed to injuries sustained from a stabbing in 2008. He was 41.

Quality Early Childhood Education is the Key to Advancing North Louisiana

In 2018, Community Counts revealed 59% of children in Shreveport-Bossier were not kindergarten ready. The alarming decrease in kindergarten readiness since 2012 is a focus of CFNLA. Numerous studies indicate lack of kindergarten readiness correlates strongly with academic and behavioral challenges and involvement with both juvenile and adult criminal justice systems.
