Construction work to modernize the lighting system on the primary runway at Shreveport Regional Airport has begun. This project is replacing existing lighting equipment with new, modern, LED lighting. The new lighting uses less energy and will make the runway more visible at night and in adverse weather conditions. In order to perform the construction work, the primary runway will be closed for approximately 60 working days. This changes aircraft traffic flow from a north-south arrival-departure pattern to an eastwest arrival-departure pattern. The construction work is not expected to impact scheduled airline or cargo flights. This $2.7 million project is funded by the Federal Aviation Administration and the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development.
