LSU Health Shreveport (LSUHS) and Volunteers of America North Louisiana (VOANLA) have partnered together to create a mental health program, EpiCenter. Epi-Center provides assessment and treatment for youth and adults who have recently begun experiencing psychosis.
Building permits have been issued by Bossier City for new construction at 3808 Kilpatrick Drive in the amount of $600,000 and for paving work at 2090 Brookshire Grocery Arena Drive in the amount of $1 million.
The building at 1103 Texas Avenue was built by a “non-denominational Black Knights of Pythias, women’s auxiliary in 1923. It was most noted for the dances held on its rooftop and the famous legendary musicians who played the Roof Top Club.
The City of Minden is celebrating one of its own. On Saturday, March 2, the city will hold a parade in honor of Super Bowl champ, L’Jarius “JJ” Sneed. He’s a cornerback for the Kansas City Chiefs and is from Minden. The Chiefs just won the Super Bowl for the second year in a row on Sunday, Feb. 11. They beat the San Francisco 49ers 25-22 in overtime. The City of Minden will hold a parade to celebrate Super Bowl champ, L'Jarius Sneed, on Saturday, March 2 in the city of Minden.

The Bossier Chamber of Commerce has announced the 2023 winners of its Business of the Year and Businessperson of the Year awards. Gregory Kallenberg was named the 2023 Top Businessperson of the Year for his work with the Prize Foundation. Give Me 3, a woman-owned business, was named as the chamber’s 2023 Small Business of the Year. And Willis-Knighton was named the 2023 Business of the Year for serving the health needs of the community for the last 100 years.
Centenary College and the Center for Teaching and Learning Have partnered together to host the FULL STEAM Ahead Teacher Symposium for the Shreveport Bossier community. The symposium is set for Feb. 8 and 9 on the campus of Centenary College. Fire District 7’s Chief Danny Richardson died on Feb. 3. He retired as Battalion Chief from the Shreveport Fire Department after serving there for 33 years. He has spent the last 16 years as the Fire Chief of Caddo Parish Fire District 7.
