The American Cornhole Organization, based in Camp Dennison, Ohio, will hold a Major Tournament in Shreveport, Louisiana, at The Bossier Civic Center on April 4-5. The event features a Pro Series competition and is open to all skill levels. J. Bennett Johnston buried with full military honors!

Flags flew at half-staff in Louisiana Wednesday to honor the life of former U.S. Sen. J. Bennett Johnston as he was laid to rest in Shreveport. The Shreveport native died March 25 at the age of 92. Law enforcement officers stood and saluted Johnston at each intersection as a motorcade led friends and family to his final resting place at Forest Park Cemetery.

United Way of Northwest Louisiana (UWNWLA) and area businesses celebrated the $1.7 million raised for Northwest Louisiana programs on March 20 at the organization’s annual event, Tails and Ales: A Celebration of Impact. Sponsored by Margaritaville Resort Casino, Raymond James, ANECA Federal Credit Union, Brentwood Hospital, AETNA, Caddo Parish, Live! Casino, Southern Components, Elite Health Solutions, Carr, Riggs & Ingram and David Raines Community Health Center. The event celebrates an impact value of nearly ten million for our community, helping more than 70,000 lives. Allocations of the funds are made to UWNWLA programs and nonprofit services that work to serve ALICE (Asset Limited, Income Constrained, Employed) citizens.
