Yuck! That was a lackluster effort, to say the least. LSU traveled to Pasadena, Calif., to face UCLA in the Rose Bowl to kick off their season and in the meantime got their tails kicked, 38-27. UCLA, a team not known for their tenacity and power, proceeded to bully LSU’s offensive and defensive lines up and down the field all night long. Poor Max Johnson, making his third start and seventh appearance, looked like he was making his third start as he was constantly running for his life, due to the ol’ approach his lineman were employing versus the UCLA defensive front.
