Shreveport recycling may be restored

The City of Shreveport recently sent out a Recycling Request for Proposal (RFP). The RFP will allow a contractor to submit proposals as to what they are able to do for the $1.9 M that is produced by the $2.50 recycle fee that is collected. The particulars of what will be recycled and where it will be taken will be spelled out in the contract and any deviations from the contract will have to be approved by the City. Below are the sections of the RFP identifying the materials to be recycled and the requirement to be notified of the recycle facility that will be used.

Maybe it is true that Joe Friday never uttered that great line on the “Dragnet” series. But the Joe Friday character portrayed by Dan Akroyd in the 1987 movie version of “Dragnet” did say it. That bit of trivia is the result of my own research on Google and Snopes.

Shreve Memorial Broadmoor branch hosts Lifeshare Blood Drive December 2

SHREVEPORT, LA – Shreve Memorial Library’s Broadmoor Branch is teaming up with LifeShare Blood Center to host a blood drive on Wednesday, December 2. According to the LifeShare Blood Center website, every two seconds someone somewhere needs blood and one in seven hospital patients will need blood. Shreve Memorial Library patrons can help save a life by donating blood with LifeShare’s mobile unit between 9:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 2 at the Broadmoor Branch, located at 1212 Captain Shreve Drive.
