Have they started closing the recycling center in Bossier on the weekends? I noticed there is a big fence up now and you cannot get to it. The weekend is when most people go.

Listen Up: NAACP continues to struggle with local elections

The local NAACP held an election of officers at the end of 2020. After a challenge to the presidential results in that election, the National NAACP “called for” another presidential election the weekend of March 12. According to reports, the National NAACP gave leadership to this election. As of the writing of this article, there are still more questions than answers concerning the timing of the election, notification concerning the election, and the “due process” elements involved in the election results.

Thinking I can or I can’t makes a difference

I use a quote from Henry Ford often on my radio program “Strategies for Living”: “If you think you can do a thing, or think you can’t do a thing, you’re right.” Last Saturday evening, we were able to witness that unfold right before our eyes in Bossier City. Tommy Chandler, a friend of mine for almost 40 years, became Mayor-Elect Tommy Chandler a little past 9 p.m. when the election results were tallied. Tommy thought he could, he did, and I cannot even begin to express how immensely proud I am for him!
