Louisianans have grit and determination in face of hurricanes

Another year, another devastating hurricane hitting the state of Louisiana, with long-term ramifications. Last year it was Hurricane Laura, which absolutely obliterated Lake Charles and surrounding areas. At the time of Laura’s destructive path, it was determined to be one of the strongest hurricanes on record to make landfall in the state of Louisiana. It was a monster storm, and the people of Lake Charles are still reeling from it one year later.

With filming scheduled to begin this fall at Millennium Studios in Shreveport’s Ledbetter Heights neighborhood, the nearly complete phase one of the new Bayou Grande Choice Neighborhoods apartment complex will add to the growing energy in downtown Shreveport. Bayou Grande will be a mixed-income, mixed-use apartment building that will charge renters according to income. Former residents of the old Jackson Heights project that was demolished 14 years ago will have first chance at renting a new apartment in the complex.
