On May 4, my access to the city email domain of Shreveportla.gov was blocked by the city's Information Technology (IT) office.

The anguish, heartbreak and suffering a parent goes through with the loss of any child, no matter the age, ethnicity, creed, etc. last the remainder of (our) lives.

A 3-year-old child killed by a stray bullet while in his bed. A 7-year-old girl killed by a bullet while a passenger in a car. Now a 13-yearold killed while visting her grandmother.

It was a town hall meeting for questions and answers. It left one big question unanswered. There was no announcement from Councilwoman LeVette Fuller about her political future. There wasn’t even much of an introduction. Everyone knew why we were there.

At the Shreveport City Council meeting on April 26, Chief Deputy City Attorney Danielle Brown advised the council that the proposed amendment to the Architectural and Engineering Selection Process (Ord. 72 of 2922) had a definition of Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE) office .

Sheriff Steve Prator, someone who has been a crime fighter in Shreveport and Caddo Parish for almost 50 years, has seen it all. So has Chief Wayne Smith, who has over 40 years of experience with the Shreveport Police Department.

The 1978 Shreveport City Charter contains the many aspects by which our city is governed. Among them are the salaries of the mayor and of the city council. Sections 2-28 and 2-29 address the salaries of the mayor and the city council, respectively. Ordinance #84 of 1990 raised the mayor's pay. A companion, Ordinance #85 of 1990, raised the pay of the seven council members. Ordinances #60 and #61 of 2002 hiked the salary of the mayor and the city council, respectively. There were12-year gaps twice: from the initial salaries to 1990, and again from then to the current salaries with a current gap of 20 years.
