Unlimited growth forever is over

Riding in the backseat of my parents Pontiac on a newly built I-20 through Bossier City for the first time, talk turned to interstates and the future of cities. This was between the time that Mr. Shreveport, James Gardner, had been elected mayor of Shreveport at 30 years old in 1954, and later elected the first Shreveport councilman from District B under the new mayor-council form of government here in 1978.

In a time of crisis, leadership matters

Gov. John Bel Edwards, who has his critics with respect to the state’s response to the coronavirus, has shown what real leadership can do in the face of crisis. From day one, he has taken the pandemic seriously. He has not sought to “play down” the virus. He has not called it a “hoax,” nor has he sought to disregard the science. Gov. Edwards has been honest and transparent with the citizens of Louisiana, which is a testament to his leadership and an example for other politicians dealing with this pandemic. In a time of crisis, leadership matters.
