Nov. 3 will be a long, long day for local political candidates.
For LSU fans, seeing Joe Burrow lose a game is a little off. For Bengals fans, seeing the Bengals lose isn’t all that hard to believe. Last Sunday, for the first time in his career, Joe Burrow was the winning quarterback of an NFL game and he did so in historic fashion. Burrow is now the first rookie quarterback in NFL history to throw for 300+ yards in his first three NFL games. In typical Joe Burrow fashion however, the statistics weren’t something he was concerned with, it was the win. When asked about the accomplishment Burrow said “we got the win, that’s all I care about.”
When Mike McCarthy took over as the new head coach for the Dallas Cowboys, defense wasn’t what people were focusing on, as McCarthy is known as an offensive coach. When the headlines were dominated with talks about the new contract, or lack thereof, for quarterback Dak Prescott, defense wasn’t what people were focusing on. When draft night came around, the Cowboys spent their first pick on another offensive weapon in CeeDee Lamb, defense wasn’t what people were focusing on.
It’s amazing what allowing your quarterback time to throw, fielding a healthy defense and sound fundamentals can do for a football team. That was on full display Saturday whenever the LSU Tigers beat the Vanderbilt Commodores 41-7. LSU quarterback Myles Brennan threw for 337 yards and four touchdowns, as the Tigers rebounded from a seasonopening loss to Mississippi State. Brennan was able to go the whole game without being sacked, a much different story from the week before whenever the Junior quarterback was sacked seven times and never looked comfortable inside or outside of the pocket.
