This is the time of year for cold days - not sweltering heat!
I am far from the first person to complain about the weather, but OH MY GOSH! This weather is killing me. Mid-October it fooled me. I thought, Wow! We are going to have a true autumn! There was a cool breeze in the air. I pulled out my long sleeves and prepared myself for hot soups and warm socks. Then, Bam! It warmed up. One morning it was rainy when I got up, so I dressed accordingly for a cool day, and I walked outside and it was muggy, oppressive and hot.

When I was a freshman in college, I got a job at what was then Kelly’s Truck Stop. Located off I-20 West at the City of Greenwood exit, Kelly’s was billed as a model facility for truckers in the early ’70s. The truck stop environment was truly a cultural awakening. I would say that during that time it was as much of an education for me as any college class I took.

I normally do not honk my car horn. If I do, it is in an effort to let someone know I am right behind you and stop backing up! I have had to do this, and I usually end up hitting all over the steering wheel in a panic and never actually making contact with the horn.
