This season, which started during one of the most difficult years we’ve ever experienced, somehow was pulled off without a single stoppage of work. A remarkable feat, no doubt, as the NFL was able navigate and maneuver enough to finish their 17-week season on time, without any cancellations.
LSU Health Shreveport (LSUHS) continues to pivot as needed to meet the needs of north Louisiana related to COVID-19. After a great start in delivering mass vaccinations, their vaccine supply for those 70 and older was depleted in three days.

Join the branch for a virtual paint party on Tuesday, February 16 and commemorate winter 2021 with a chilly penguin painting. Patrons of all ages are invited to join the fun and create their own work of art.

Mr. Alan Clarke, the Executive Director of the Shreveport-Caddo Metropolitan Planning Commission was recently honored by members of the Louisiana Chapter of the American Planning Association (APA Louisiana) with the 2020 Achievement Award for Leadership. This honor is awarded annually to a professional planner who earns or has earned their living in planning, who contributes significantly to the advancement of planning practice or academic education over a sustained period through exemplary leadership and substantial accomplishments, as a credit to the American Planning Association.
Every February, for the past 57 years, we’ve celebrated American Heart Month, a time when the nation turns its attention to the critical need to keep families free from heart disease. Raising awareness has never been more urgent as cardiovascular diseases stop 18.6 million hearts across the globe each year. In fact, 1 in 3 women will lose their life to heart disease and stroke — and One is Too Many. Our message is needed now more than ever, as COVID-19 disproportionately claims the lives of people with a history of heart disease and stroke.
2020 was a challenging year for many individuals, businesses, and nonprofit organizations in our community, our nation, and across the globe. Although we continue to experience changes in our daily lives due to the pandemic, one thing that has remained consistent is the generosity of our community and the support we show one another in times of need. The Community Foundation is fortunate to witness this first-hand.


Airline High senior Faith Berger and Benton High senior Jake Skipper have been singled out among some of the nation’s most distinguished 12th graders and named Career and Technical Education (CTE) candidates for the 2021 U.S. Presidential Scholars Program.
