SML to offer Covid vaccine registration assistance

In coordination with the Louisiana Department of Health Office of Public Health Region 7, Shreve Memorial Library will offer assistance to those needing help registering to receive the COVID-19 vaccine. Library staff at all Shreve Memorial Library branches will provide information for participating COVID-19 vaccine locations and help users navigate the online registration process.

LSU Board of Supervisors supports dental services expansion

On Jan. 15 the Louisiana Board of Supervisors supported the requested expansion by LSU Health Shreveport and LSU Health New Orleans to expand dental services throughout Louisiana. These institutions feel strongly that the citizens of Louisiana need unrestricted access to oral health services (OHS) for public health, safety and wellness. The LSU Health New Orleans School of Dentistry and LSU Health School of Medicine-Shreveport expansion initiative, in partnership with Ochsner-LSU Health Shreveport (OLHS), serves to increase general dental services and limited specialty-level dental services to the citizens of the various regions of Louisiana by providing safe, affordable and quality OHS.

For 33 years, Providence House has been laser focused on “Breaking the Homeless Cycle One Family at a Time.” 2020 certainly dealt us a hand that we had never seen before! Like all other non-profits, we had to pivot in our execution of programming, but never from the mission. COVID-19 presented itself as an adversary to our team’s vision, but we rolled up our sleeves higher and got to work.

LSUS-2020 RECAP

2020 was a year of major growth and change for LSUS, even with the ongoing challenges created by the Covid-19 pandemic. The university’s steady enrollment growth continued, making it the fastest-growing higher education institution in Louisiana over the last five years. LSUS had a final enrollment of just under 10,000 students for the fall 2020 semester. The Early Childhood Education and online MBA programs achieved national rankings, and the Pilot athletic programs were hugely successful on the field, court, diamond and most importantly, in the classroom, with a collective GPA of 3.14 for the fall semester.
