In March 2023, Caddo Parish had a 3.6% unemployment rate, a 0.3% decrease over the last month. Louisiana has the 12th highest unemployment rate in the country at 3.6%. The national unemployment rate changed little since last year, around 3.5% in March. If you have been to Shreveport's new Chick-fil-A Mansfield Road location you'll see this one is unique; you've never seen one like it. There is a multi-lane drive-thru, there are outside walk-up ordering windows, there is outside seating there is even a spot for curbside ordering. However, there isn't indoor seating. There isn't an inside play area either.


Under the curatorship of the Shreveport Regional Arts Council, local artist Ellen Soffer is displaying 10 pieces of her work in the Mayor’s Office in the reception area, located at 505 Travis Street, Suite 200 in downtown Shreveport. Soffer uses beautiful, bold, bright colors of red, blue, yellow, purple, pink, white and green in the abstracts, which are done in oil. Local children’s author, Starla Ross, returns to Shreve Memorial Library to share her recently published children’s book, 'Don’t Forget My Name.'
