NBA legend Bill Russell passes away at 88
A native of the 318, Russell was born in West Monroe in 1934. While Russell’s legacy is one most basketball fans are aware of, his story is one that can’t be told in a short-form article. His story is a grand one. A key component of the Boston Celtics’ dynasty of the 1950s and ’60s, the only NBA player to win 11 championships and the league’s first Black head coach, died on Sunday. He was 88.
