WWE Chairman Vince McMahom “retires”

I use the quotation marks because I can guarantee you, if you would have asked Vince McMahon a month ago if he was going to retire as CEO of the WWE, he would have responded with a resounding, “Hell, no!” He would have to have been wheeled off on a stretcher before he willingly stepped away from the business that he’s been a part of all his life. And yet, here we are; Vince McMahon has retired from the WWE. His daughter, Stephanie McMahon, has been named WWE’s new chairwoman, and she will remain one of WWE’s new co-CEOs alongside Nick Khan. Paul Levesque, better known as the wrestler “Triple H,” will take over WWE’s creative operations.

Prep basketball star Hansel Enmanuel signs with Northwestern State

Usually, Northwestern State basketball signings come and go without much fanfare. This signing isn’t your usual signing, however. Enmanuel averaged 25.9 points, 11 rebounds, 6.9 assists and 3.4 blocks per game for Life Christian Academy in Kissimmee, Fla., last season. While those stats would fulfill any hoopers dream stat line in high school, Enmanuel did so with just one arm! The 6 foot 6 guard lost most of his left arm to amputation after a cinderblock wall collapsed on him at the age of 6 in his home country of the Dominican Republic. Clearly, Hansel hasn’t let that accident or his disability define him. I look forward to continuing the follow Hansel’s career as he continues his quest to silence his doubters.

The Grove draws a crowd

The Grove’s opening weekend was a hit, both '70s groovy and busy! Owners Carrie Restel and Damon Tilton had worked hard on the space at 107 Spring St., stocked it with more than 20 fun vendors and decorated the heck out of it … but there was still the lingering fear of whether people would come.
