Major construction projects involving the approval of local governing entities and the acquisition of rights of way over privately owned property are not commenced in an overnight fashion. At the beginning of Wednesday's first agenda meeting of 2025, outgoing President Philip Rodgers exchanged seats with incoming President Glenn Benton, who has served on the police jury since 2007. Afterward, Benton presented Rodgers with a plaque and congratulated him on his work as president over the past year.

ZONING MUST ALLOW RETAIL ALCOHOL SALES The property must be zoned to allow the retail sale of alcohol beverages. The Shreveport Unified Development Code (UDC) sets forth the permitted uses within zoning districts. The Shreveport Metropolitan Planning Commission (MPC) regulates and enforces the UDC.

SHREVEPORT SCENE!

The Downtown Development Authority (DDA) offers up to $250.00 through programming mini-grants to organizations or individuals wishing to put on events that are open to the public that promote development in and are held in the Downtown Development District. The goal of the grant is to encourage events in downtown Shreveport to show off the history and culture of our urban core. It is not available to events that are fundraisers, political gatherings or events which are not open to the general public.
