In the case of the LSU Tigers and pretty much all sports, expectations are as risky as gas station sushi. In my prediction piece on the LSU season, I asked the question, 'Do you think this team can finish the regular season undefeated?” To which I wrote, “I do.” I married myself to my expectations for a team I hadn’t seen lay together. I was willing to dream and put what I expected to happen in writing. I had this to say about the Seminole game: “Like last season, the Tigers will begin their year with a game against the Florida State Seminoles. This time, however, I don’t anticipate the Tigers losing to the Noles like they did last year, 24-23. I look for the Tigers to avenge that loss with a victory to start the season 1-0. Coach Brian Kelly leading up to the game said, 'We’re gonna go beat the heck out of Florida State.'' Sunday night on primetime, it was those Florida State Seminoles versus the LSU Tigers. Both teams started off sound, going back and forth for the first half with LSU up 17-14 heading into halftime. At this point, Coach tells his team what he expects in the second half. We talk over our nachos exactly how we expect the rest of the game to go. Our expectations were way off as Florida State scored 31 unanswered points in the second half. Jordan Travis, their “Heisman Candidate” quarterback finished the game with 342 yards passing and five total touchdowns. He led his team to a 45-24 win and a bitter pill for Tiger fans to swallow.
