The Southern University at Shreveport Foundation is excited and proud to present the 2023 “Cotton Club Gala.” This year’s event will pay tribute to the late, great legendary icon Ms. Billie Holiday. Ms. Holiday was an American jazz music and swing singer nicknamed “Lady Day.” She was considered one of the greatest jazz singers of all time, with a voice that could express the most profound emotions. She was known for such songs as “The Man I Love,” “It Had to Be You,” “Summer Time” and Embraceable You.”

Supervison of Caddo Juvenile Court Removed From Chief Judge Casey-Jones

Louisiana Supreme Court Justice Scott Crichton signed an order on Sept. 20 of this year that effectively removes the supervision of the Caddo Juvenile Court from Chief Judge Ree Casey-Jones. The order, set forth below, appoints Judge Tiffany Guatier Chase of the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals to handle administrative duties set forth in the order. No details on the reasons for this order were available at the press deadline.

Bossier's Arthur Ray Teague Parkway follows the Red River and extends from the old Diamond Jacks casino to Parkway High School. The under-construction Walter O. Bigby Carriageway will, in effect, connect the parkway to Benton Road north of Citizens Bank Drive/Riverwood Drive. But who were the two esteemed Bossierites?
