On March 4, at approximately 8:30 a.m., members of the Shreveport City Marshal’s Office, the Shreveport Police Department’s Warrant Unit, and the Violent Crimes Abatement Team (VCAT) executed a search warrant at 544 E. 74th Street. The warrant was obtained following information received from the Caddo Parish Juvenile Services Officer regarding the presence of firearms and narcotics at the location.

Caddo Parish District Attorney James Stewart is asking parents to be mindful of the mental health crisis affecting children in the area. During a recent stakeholders meeting with city leaders, Stewart discovered that many students are experiencing emotional and behavioral challenges. Barzanna White, the longtime child welfare psychologist for the school board and the Mental Health Wellness and Safe School supervisor for Caddo Parish schools, reported 168 referrals in January regarding concerns that were suicidal, homicidal, or depressive.
