In the early hours of July 29, at approximately 4:15 a.m., the Shreveport Police Department’s Violent Crimes Abatement Team (VCAT), in collaboration with the Shreveport Police Warrant’s Unit and the Shreveport City Marshal’s Office, executed a search warrant in the 3400 block of Jackson Street.

The Shreveport Police Department has arrested 31-year-old Matthew Tate in connection with a shooting that occurred on June 9 in the 500 block of West 76th Street. Tate is accused of the shooting, which resulted in the victim being struck in the arm. The victim was transported to a local hospital and treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

Sheriff Henry Whitehorn Sr. swore in six new deputies on July 25 for the Caddo Parish Sheriff’s Office.

Louisiana State Police Bureau of Investigations/Bossier Field Office (LSP BFO) conducted a two-day joint criminal enforcement detail with the Bossier City Police Department (BCPD) in response to an increase in criminal activity in Bossier City.

On July 29 at approximately 3:45 p.m., Shreveport Police officers responded to the 900 block of Whispering Lake Drive regarding what was initially reported as a hit-and-run accident. Upon further investigation, it was determined that 23-year-old Janai Blow had intentionally struck a woman with her vehicle, causing injuries.

On July 29 at approximately 11:25 a.m., Shreveport Police officers responded to the 5700 block of Financial Plaza regarding a welfare concern. A female caller advised that her boyfriend was holding her hostage inside a hotel at this location.
