Shreveport Police continue their efforts to remove firearms from individuals prohibited from possessing them, with a strong focus on addressing youth-related firearm offenses. On Oct.1, 17-year-olds Dontavious Wilson and Edward Logan were arrested for the illegal possession of handguns.

The first Annual Misdemeanor Warrant Resolution Event held by the Caddo Parish Sheriff’s Office was a great success. They were able to assist 150 people in resolving their warrants by helping them make payments or set up a payment plan. Some individuals were also able to appear before Judge Hathaway to schedule a new court date, which allowed the warrant to be taken off the individual.

Late on the Monday night of Sept.30, Shreveport Police officers responded to a report of an armed individual in the 2800 block of Essex Street. At approximately 11:32 p.m., officers arrived on the scene and arrested 37-year-old Jerry James.

52, held a woman against her will at one of the cabins on the property and sexually assaulted her over the course of three days. The woman was able to escape Friday afternoon and ran away from the cabin. The sheriff’s office says Free chased her while armed with a gun.

Police have in custody a man accused of firing shots into the home of his ex-girlfriend.
A middle school student was arrested after threats against the school were discovered on social media.

On Sept.21, at approximately 11:46 p.m., officers from the Shreveport Police Department responded to a welfare concern at 3016 Valley Ridge Road. Upon arrival, officers made contact with a 13-year-old juvenile, who reported that she could no longer tolerate the poor living conditions at her home. The child stated she often goes multiple days without eating and that her mother is rarely present.

On Sept.20, at approximately 12:14 a.m., Shreveport Police Department officers observed a blue Ford Crown Victoria fail to signal while turning westbound onto Hollywood Avenue from Monkhouse Drive. Officers initiated a traffic stop and made contact with the driver, identified as 32-year-old Roderick McKnight.

On Sept.21, at approximately 2:50 a.m., officers with the Shreveport Police Department attempted to stop a vehicle driven by 24-year-old Christopher Beliew for multiple traffic violations. Beliew chose to flee in the vehicle, leading officers on a pursuit through the area.
