The good intentions of State Representative Roy Burell in 2015 to get HB 769 passed was only the start of a comprehensive plan to redevelop areas of the city that has been overlooked according to the vision outlined in the 2030 Master Plan and for the most part, not included in the few bond proposals that have been successful since 2015.

By the time this column is read, Tom Arceneaux will be entering his third year as mayor. Thus, his term as mayor is half over. He has announced he plans to seek re-election in 2026.
