There is good news for Shreveport and Broadmoor neighborhood this week. The Arthur Circle School property has been sold by the Caddo Parish School Board to Louisiana Key Academy, a charter school system that administers a curriculum designed to support dyslexic students. Appraised at over $1 million, the property sold for just over $862,000. This is fantastic for the Broadmoor neighborhood and for fans of the iconic Wiener Brothers Architecture in Shreveport.

WHAT I LEARNED AT ARCENEAUX'S FIRST PRESS CONFERENCE AS MAYOR-ELECT

The newly elected mayor is going to have to make some big decisions early, and that is expected. He wants to hit the ground running, which is admirable, and it appears that that is exactly what he is doing. He is staffing up with people who know what they are doing, like former CAOs Tom Dark and Sherrika Fields-Jones.

In March of 2021 a Shreveport judge awarded nearly $10 million in damages to the plaintiffs in a class action lawsuit alleging the misreading and misbilling of Shreveport water customers. The ligation started in April of 2017.

Homelessness is a serious problem in Shreveport, but none of the candidates for any office have addressed it. Could it be because they don't vote? Their presence affects this community just as those who vote affect this community. I spent the last few days visiting with homeless people on the streets (not my first time, either). The things that we “Christians” allow to happen to our less fortunate sisters and brothers are spiritually criminal.

The gift of endorsement that Mayors Adrian Perkins, Ollie Tyler and Cedric Glover gave to Tom Arceneaux’s mayoral campaign was not theirs to give. That is what a lot of Democrats are saying who voted for each of them in the past.
