Police make two arrests in west Shreveport homicide

Investigators with Shreveport Police Department’s Homicide Unit have jailed two men in connection with the murder of a local man in west Shreveport.

On February 25 2020, just after 7:00 p.m., Shreveport police patrol officers responded to the 9000 block of South Shreveport Drive on reports of a man lying in the roadway. Upon arrival, Shreveport Fire personnel determined that the victim, 18-year-old Jederris Taylor, had been shot multiple times. He was pronounced deceased on scene.

Investigators responded and worked with patrol officers and crime scene investigators to canvass the area and gather evidence. Detectives continued to work throughout the night and were able to identify 19-year-old Traveon Cannon, of the 9400 block of Coronado Drive, and 21-year-old Kasey Howard, of the 3400 block of Sherrian Avenue in Bossier City, as the people they believed responsible for the murder. Detectives believe that Cannon and Howard lured Taylor to the area with the intent to kill him. They were able to locate and arrest both suspects during the night. Following interviews, they were booked into the Shreveport City Jail on one count each of Second Degree Murder.
