Shreveport Police continue investigation into homicide

Shreveport police homicide investigators continue their investigation into the shooting death of a man in east Shreveport.

On February 25, 2020, just after 10:00 pm Shreveport Police patrol officers responded to reports of a shooting in the 1800 block of Viking Drive. Officers arrived and located 20-year-old Javarcya J. Smith, suffering from a gunshot wound to his upper body. Smith was transported Ochsner LSU Health where he was pronounced deceased.

Investigators with the Crime Scene Unit processed the scene for evidence while investigators canvassed the neighborhood searching for witnesses and gathering video. The investigation is ongoing.
