The Shreve Memorial Library Children’s Book Festival returns Saturday, May 4 on the beautiful campus of LSU Shreveport. The annual event is a familyfriendly, daylong literary celebration featuring children’s book authors and illustrators, costumed characters, and interactive games and activities for families and children of all ages.
Department by Department Accomplishments Here are some accomplishments of the city departments.
1. Where did you grow up and what schools did you attend?
On Feb. 24 at approximately 9:55 a.m., Shreveport police officers responded to an incident in the 1400 block of Highland Avenue. Upon arrival, officers discovered a male victim with stab wounds, indicative of a domestic altercation.
The Shreveport Police violent crimes detectives have made significant progress in the investigation of the tragic incident that occurred on Feb. 15, in the 4300 block of Lakeshore Drive.
Turkey Fry Guys — a group of local volunteers — presented Gingerbread House CEO Jessica Miller a check for $150,000. The six-figure donation was the fruit of two events leading up to Thanksgiving 2023. Turkey Fry Guys held a party/silent auction, and deep-fried 1,000 turkeys which were sold to the public, some of who donated their turkeys to various organizations.
The cancellation of Shreveport’s plan to build a new baseball stadium at the Louisiana State Fairgrounds raises an obvious question: What to do with Fair Grounds Field?
And last but n…last. The NBA “All-Star” game was played this past weekend. The final score, in this exhibition of what the NBA has to offer, 211-186.
