Sheriff’s Safety Town invites the community to participate in the 14th Annual 'Clean Out Your Closet for Christmas' Project, which aims to make a difference in the lives of families in need this holiday season. This initiative provides essential resources to families, with donations being distributed to the Salvation Army and Providence House.

The Caddo Parish Commission, in partnership with the Food Bank of Northwest Louisiana, will host a drive thru food box distribution event at multiple locations across Caddo Parish on Saturday, November 22, starting at 9am and 10:30am. “We know that many families in our community are struggling right now, especially with challenges accessing SNAP benefits, the impact of federal furloughs, and the rising costs of food,” said Caddo Parish Commission Stormy Gage-Watts. “Providing distribution opportunities, such as the Commission’s event, is a way to offer some immediate relief and ensure that no one in our parish has to face food insecurity alone,” said Gage-Watts. The distribution event is possible through an allocation by the Caddo Parish Commission and partnership with the Food Bank of Northwest Louisiana for food acquisition and distribution.

Sheriff Henry Whitehorn announces a vital new partnership between the Caddo Parish Sheriff’s Office and Southern University at Shreveport (SUSLA) through a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to develop and implement a comprehensive Re-Entry Education and Training Program for eligible individuals within Caddo Parish.

Domestic Violence continues to be a troubling scourge of our community. With October being Domestic Violence Awareness Month, it was fitting that two cases ended the month that I would like to highlight to you, that brought some measure of justice for these victims of domestic violence and their families. To all victims, friends, or relatives of domestic violence victims reading this message, even if you did not or do not personally know these victims, please remember these cases and pray for these victims and all victims of domestic violence.

Bossier Parish Sheriff Julian Whittington was honored to present a check totaling $70,000.00 to representatives from several youth-focused charities in our area. The funds were raised through the Bossier Parish Sheriff’s Office’s first annual “Kids Shoot for Youth Charities” event held earlier this month. The proceeds from this event were distributed to St Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, The Gingerbread House, Shriners Children’s, Easter Seals, and the March of Dimes. Each of these charities provide vital services and support to children and their families in need. Sheriff Whittington expressed his appreciation for the overwhelming community participation that made the event such a success. “Seeing local people come together for such a meaningful cause is truly inspirational. Every dollar raised represents hope, compassion, and the strong spirit of the community. I could not be more proud of our sponsors, deputies, volunteers, and young participants who made this possible”.
