1. Where did you grow up and tell us about your family: Even though I was born in King City, California, I grew up in Mira, a small town about 30 miles north of Shreveport. I am the third child born of four children. My dad served in the U.S. Army on active duty for 12 years before becoming the 1st Black Chief Engineer for KTAL in the late sixties. My mother worked as a Teacher’s Aide in Special Education for Caddo Parish Schools. Growing up with a strict military father, my siblings and I were taught the value of hard work and the importance of striving for perfection in all that we set out to accomplish. My dad’s famous words were, “If you’re not going to do it right, don’t do it at all.” Those words profoundly shaped the way I approach life, motivating me to bring my best self to everything I do.
