BATON ROUGE, La. — An organization that promotes education, workforce development, film festivals and mentorship programs for Louisiana filmmakers of all ages is the latest recipient of a grant from Louisiana’s new Entertainment Development Fund. The Prize Foundation will receive a $203,050 grant to expand its annual Louisiana Film Prize and develop a film training program in Louisiana high schools.
Playaz and Playettes, Inc and MC Productions will present the 10th Annual Shreveport Blues and Southern Soul Pre-Labor Day Festival, 5-11 p.m., Sunday, Sept. 5, at Festival Plaza in downtown Shreveport.

The skies glowed and the air was filled with laughter at this year’s Glow Greenwood. Over 1,200 people were in attendance to view the beautiful balloons brought in to the town of Greenwood by Pat Harwell and friends.

Organizers of special events to be held in Bossier Parish will now have to obtain a permit after an ordinance governing “public interest and special events.” It was adopted July 7 by the Bossier Parish Police Jury.
Rotary Club of Shreveport awards civic grants to local nonprofits on an annual basis. These grants support the community through funding of select projects that benefit local area residents, provide opportunities for members of the club to actively participate, and gain recognition for Rotary. Priorities for civic projects supported by the club include education, social services and community development. During this grant cycle we received 21 applications. This year, $22,800 was awarded to the following organizations:

Shreve Memorial Library, in partnership with LSU AgCenter, will present a virtual food safety program on Friday, July 23. The program will be held via Zoom and is open to all interested in learning more about food safety. Participation in the food safety program is free, but registration is required.
