Caddo Parish DA Highlights Mental Health Crisis in Children!

Caddo Parish District Attorney James Stewart is asking parents to be mindful of the mental health crisis affecting children in the area. During a recent stakeholders meeting with city leaders, Stewart discovered that many students are experiencing emotional and behavioral challenges. Barzanna White, the longtime child welfare psychologist for the school board and the Mental Health Wellness and Safe School supervisor for Caddo Parish schools, reported 168 referrals in January regarding concerns that were suicidal, homicidal, or depressive.

The City of Shreveport is preparing to expand its speeding camera program, currently active only in school zones. The city council next month will be asked to allow changes to the contract currently governing the program approving the installation and operation of speeding cameras in a dozen other locations citywide.
