MLB playoff bracket set

MLB playoff bracket set

The field is set, the teams are ready ... playoff baseball is here. While baseball has a bit of a reputation as a slow game to watch, all that changes come October as the playoffs kick off and the games become increasingly more interesting. This year will be no different. The top two teams in each league (the Astros and Yankees in the American League and the Dodgers and Braves in the National League) received byes and started their postseason journeys in the LDS round on Tuesday. With the Wild Card Series in the books, the playoffs resemble their traditional selves: a best-of-five Division Series and then best-of-seven League Championship Series before the best-of-seven World Series.

Cowboys continue to roll, beat reeling Rams

Defense wins championships. If their Cowboys defense continues to play at the level they are playing at now ... well ... we’ll see. The poor Rams, defending Super Bowl champions, faced off against two very strong defensive fronts the past two weeks in the San Francisco 49ers and Cowboys, and Matthew Stafford is likely still feeling the effects of those games. This past weekend, the Cowboys were able to sack Stafford five times as he was running for his life much of the game, thanks to three missing starters on his offensive line and absolute animals up front for the Cowboys. Backup QB Cooper Rush will get the “win” on his stat book, but this one goes to the defense.

Saints outlast Seahawks as Taysom Hill shines

With the Saints' starting quarterback Jameis Winston still on the shelf, Andy Dalton got the start again for the Saints as they took on the Seattle Seahawks in the Dome this past weekend. Dalton, however, wasn’t the “quarterback” who shined brightest Sunday. That spotlight was square on the shoulders of the Saints' “Swiss army knife,” Taysom Hill. The Saints' tight end/quarterback/fullback/ running back threw for a touchdown on his only pass of the game, a 22-yard score to fellow tight end Adam Trautman. Hill also finished the game with 112 yards rushing and three rushing touchdowns. Runs of eight and nine yards are overshadowed by his fourth-quarter run of 60 yards and capped off his huge day in the Big Easy.

Several young adults are able to keep their head above water and live comfortably, while many others are struggling check-to-check to pay their monthly rent. You always get what you pay for, but in 2022 is rent too high?

Infrastructure and Budgeting

Infrastructure and Budgeting

There are certain services that cities are expected to deliver to citizens. These services aren’t ones that garner flashy headlines or lead the news, but when they aren’t provided to citizens and businesses, a community cannot be successful. It is clear the city of Shreveport must address the issue of infrastructure needs in a serious way because the lack of attention in this area over a period of years has stifled the potential growth of our city. One of the things the mayor and city council must realize is that for the city to grow and prosper, we must have the backing and support of our citizens; our civic and business communities, and just as importantly, the many churches, clubs and social organizations that are the backbone of our communities throughout the city. As mayor, I can provide the leadership and work with the city council on a bi-partisan basis to bring stability and growth to our beloved city.

The First 100 Days of Chavez Administration

The First 100 Days of Chavez Administration

When we launched our campaign, we promised that we would meet in every district within our city. We have done that. We have also stated that we would create a plan that came from the people through the town halls and meetings. That is what the following items consist of. This is the 100-day plan for the Chavez Administration. By accomplishing these items, we will lay a proper foundation and direction for the remainder of our administration.
