September is Library Card Sign-Up Month, a time when Shreve Memorial Library joins the American Library Association (ALA) and libraries nationwide to remind parents, caregivers and students that signing up for a library card is the first step on the path to academic achievement and lifelong learning. All September-long Shreve Memorial Library will celebrate Library Card Sign-Up Month by encouraging those without library cards to visit the library’s 21 branches and sign up for a library card. In addition, those who have lost their library card may replace them during Library card Sign-Up Month free of charge.
The Shreveport-Bossier African-American Chamber of Commerce is launching the Shreveport-Bossier Black Restaurant Week Oct. 18-23. Participating restaurants will be offering $10 lunches and $20 dinners. There will be curated, exclusive dining experiences and events throughout the week.
