Rotary Club of Shreveport Foundation has awarded scholarships to students from the six local institutions of higher learning for the past 38 years. The initial award amount many years ago was $350 per student. This has been increased over the years to the significant amount of $2,000 per student. These scholarships are funded primarily through membership dues and project donations.

Plans are currently underway for the Shreve Memorial Library Children’s Book Festival to be held Saturday, May 7, on the beautiful campus of LSU Shreveport. The literary event will feature famed children’s authors, local authors and illustrators of children’s books, fun games and activities for kids, and delicious food. Local children’s authors, illustrators and community groups are invited to be a part of the festivities.

A yearly tradition for the Radiance Technologies Independence Bowl, the bowl will host the 11th annual Youth Football Clinic at Independence Stadium on Saturday, June 4, from 8-11:30 a.m.
