Women's Philanthropy Network awards $75,000 grant

Since 2005, Women’s Philanthropy Network (WPN) has built a strong community of caring, philanthropic women dedicated to achieving positive change for children. Each year the members pool their annual dues to make a high-impact grant to a local nonprofit with a focus on improving school readiness and student achievement. Since inception, the WPN has granted over $1.35 million to effective educational initiatives in our community.

'Serve Your City' nonprofit tent a success at the Red River Balloon Rally

Through generous support from the LSUS Foundation, the Institute for Nonprofit Administration and Research at LSUS, hosted a "Serve Your City" Nonprofit Volunteerism Tent at the 2022 Red River Balloon Rally. Thirteen nonprofit organizations from the Shreveport-Bossier area participated in the event to promote volunteerism and help communities in need.

LSU Health School of Medicine hosts largest Camp Tiger in its 21-year history

Camp Tiger, hosted by incoming, first and second year medical students at LSU Health Shreveport, is honored to present its’ largest and 21st day camp from June 6-10. The free, five-day camp is for children and teens ages 5 to 18 years old living with physical and cognitive challenges such as cystic fibrosis, Down syndrome, cerebral palsy, autism and more.

Standing alone in the shade of a lone pine tree on the shore of Cross Lake, Mayor Adrian Perkins announced his candidacy for a second term as mayor of Shreveport last Tuesday. There were no cheering supporters behind him, and only a handful of quiet supporters looking on. Supporters were outnumbered by lunch diners inside Orlandeaux’s Café, where the hastily called press conference was held. Emails announcing the presser went out at 4:45 p.m. the previous day, Memorial Day.
